NOTE:
This gilīm closely resembles another from the Azerbaijan region of Iran, sharing similarities in border design, color, and material. However, a subtle distinction lies in its background design. Here, a single vase is woven in the middle, while cloud-band-like stripes adorn the bottom corner, imparting a unique aesthetic and tilting the design. Crafted from exceptionally fine wool, a hallmark of textiles from the Azerbaijan region renowned for its high-quality wool. Like its counterpart, this gilīm deviates from the traditional gilīm weaving technique. Given the congruence in technique, coloration, material, and design, it’s presumed both gilīms originated from the same carpet weaving workshop.
