NOTE:
This carpet, woven in Isfahan during the late 16th century, likely drew inspiration from other exquisite animal carpets of its time. The design holds particular significance, with a repetition of rows containing depictions of various animals. Noteworthy among them are the “Simorgh” and dragon motifs. The dragon design reflects the influence of Chinese art prevalent during that period.
A remarkable aspect of the carpet is the uniform direction in which all depicted animals gaze, contributing to a sense of order in the overall design. Additionally, the border design stands out, being relatively larger compared to other carpets. It features a pattern of “Toranj” along with other regular geometric designs, further enhancing the prominence of this exceptional carpet.
