NOTE:
While this carpet bears resemblance to a gilīm, it lacks the characteristic slits associated with this technique. Its design features vase motifs, with two vases woven facing each other. Within these vases, intricate patterns of flowers and foliage are woven, and the field design of both vases is identical. The border is adorned with a series of “Toranj” designs, with one repeated in the middle. Originally woven for religious purposes, this carpet abstains from depicting animal patterns. Once part of the assets of the shrine of Sheikh Safiuddin Ardabili, ancestor of the Safavid kings, this carpet holds historical significance.
